Lovebird Feeding Guide

Find out more about Lovebird food with our Lovebird feeding guide.

Lovebirds need a varied diet to stay healthy. Around 60?80% of their daily food should be a high?quality complete or pelleted diet, with the rest made up of seed mixes, sprouting seed, vegetables, fruits, nuts and occasional treats. Using foraging toys alongside their regular feeding dish helps encourage their natural foraging instincts.

Lafeber?s NutriBerries and Gourmet Pellets offer complete nutrition with essential vitamins and minerals, while sprouting seeds provide an extra boost of enzymes and natural goodness. Lovebirds also enjoy vitamin?rich fruits such as berries, apples, figs and mango, alongside quality seed mixes like Johnston & Jeff Premium Parakeet Mixture. Fresh vegetables including carrots, kale and broccoli complete a balanced, nutritious Lovebird diet.

A Lovebird?s diet needs to be as mixed as possible. The base diet, approx 60-80%, should be pelleted or complete food, with the remainder being seed and sprouting seed, fruits, nuts, vegetables and other treats.

We?d also encourage you to place food in foraging toys for your Lovebird to find with their amazing foraging skills, as well as placing some in their feeding dish.

Please Note: We would always advise buying the smallest bag/pack possible to trial your Parrot with. It can take some time and persistence to introduce a new food. It may be worth having a second bowl of water next to your Lovebird?s food bowl, as many enjoy dunking their food before eating it. Always have fresh water available.
