Budgie Feeding Guide

Published on Thursday, 14th March 2019
With so many different foods available for your Budgie, it can be hard to know where to start. To give you a helping hand we've put together this useful feeding guide.

A Budgie’s diet should be approximately 60-80% pellets/complete food, and then the remainder a mixture of fruits, nuts, seed, sprouting seed, treats, vegetables and other treats.

Pelleted and Completed Food
These give a Budgie all the nutrients they need in their diet. Lafeber NutriBerries for Small Parrots has 40 essential nutrients your Budgie needs to stay fit and healthy.

Pretty Bird Daily Select Small has little or no waste when your bird eats it and is great if you have a number of Budgies and other small Parrots to feed.

Sprouting Seed / Soaking Seed
Packed full of nutrients, sprouting and soaking seed are loads of fun to prepare and very nutritious for your bird too. All you need to do is soak it, rinse it then serve with the rest of your Budgie’s diet.

The Tidymix Parakeet Diet is made from 21 human grade ingredients all of high nutritional value. Vets have recommended it too.

The highly rated Hagen Living World Budgie Premium Seed contains oil seeds, fruits and vegetables for a beak-wateringly good mix.

Encourage your Budgie to enjoy dark green vegetable such as kale and broccoli. Orange coloured vegetables such as carrot is also highly nutritious. If you need something a little more convenient take a look at the Kaytee Bird Greens with Chia and Sweet Potato or the f
ruit, nut and veg mix

Many different fruits are readi
ly accepted by Budgies, let yours enjoy tucking into some,

They contain lots of vitamins and minerals your Budgie needs every day in their diet.

Other Treats
The Palm Nut Fruit Extract Oil can he
lp improve feather condition.

Lafeber Original Avicakes for small Parrots bring the fun back to treat times, as do the delightfully tasty Vitapol Treat sticks

Please Note:
We would always advise buying the smallest bag/pack possible to trial your Parrot with. It can take some time and persistence to introduce a new food. Always have fresh water available.
If you are concerned about your Budgie's diet and feel they need some additional support whilst you make improvements then take a look at these easy to use supplements.
