Meet My Parrot: Aggie The African Grey
Posted by African Grey Parrot, Meet My Parrot on 21/5/2025
My African Grey Aggie has come such a long way since we got her just over two years ago.
Aggie was 30 years old when we got her. She had spent her whole life in the same small cage. She had never been out of the cage and had never been handled. She had no toys as we was told she was scared of anything new and she spent most of the time on her own.
Her nails were curled around and she was completely bald on her belly and neck. She was also on a seed only diet with no fruit or vegetables given. When she was given to us, we changed her cage and food, trimmed her nails and offered her hanging toys and cardboard boxes. She now loves toys, her new diet and bigger cage and has grown nearly all her feathers back but she does still pluck.
Once she got used to us she used to make really sad crying sounds when we used to leave the room but now she makes lots of silly happy noises to us and loves being outside of her cage. We still can't handle her but she?s come such a long way in such a short time but we love her as she is.
