It?s important to keep your Cockatoo?s diet as varied as possible. Like all Parrots, their base diet should be pellets or complete food (roughly 60-80%) with the rest of their diet being made up of sprouting seeds, other seeds, vegetables, fruits, nuts and other treats.
Take a look at this handy guide where you?ll find some of the best selling and highly rated food and treats for your Cockatoo.
Complete and Pelleted Food
As stated previously, this should be the core part of your Cockatoo?s diet as it provides them with all the nutrition they need.
Lafeber
Lafeber NutriBerries can be used as a complete food or treat. Five tasty flavours are available, Original, Tropical, Sunny Orchard, El Paso and Garden Veggie.Their small shape makes them easy to hold in feet or beak and they have the 40 essential nutrients birds need.
Your Parrot
Your Parrot is available in a herbal or vegetable blend in a range of sizes.
Sprouting Seed / Soaking Seed
The other type of seed available is sprouting seed. Simply soak them in water, rinsing occasionally and once you see the shoots appearing you?ll have a meal packed full of nature?s finest vitamins, minerals and nutrients.
Seed
Parrot Premium Professional Seed has been developed to our exact standards with premium ingredients including rowan berries, melon seed and elderberries. These make it one of the most nutritious seed mixes around.
Vegetables
Dark green and orange vegetables usually offer the highest nutrition, such as spinach, broccoli, sprouts, kale, sweet potato (cooked and mashed) and carrot.
Fruits
Fruits ensure your Cockatoo stays fit and healthy too, as they have vitamins such as Vitamin C that support the immune system.
The fruits ready for you to order include?
For convenience you can offer dried fruits, which contain nearly the same nutrition as fresh.
Nuts
Are simply irresistible to most Cockatoos. Take a look at
- Cashew kernels
- Walnuts
- Macadamia nuts
- Palm nuts
- Cedar nuts
- Almond
Other Treats
Make feeding time even more exciting with the selection of other treats.
Spread Palm Fruit Extract over your bird?s food for a yummy daily treat.
Please Note: We would always advise buying the smallest bag/pack possible to trial your Parrot with. It can take some time and persistence to introduce a new food. It may be worth having a second bowl of water next to your Cockatoo Parrot's food bowl, as many enjoy dunking their food before eating it. Always have fresh water available.
