Canary Feeding Guide

Published on Thursday, 14th March 2019
Just because they’re littler birds, doesn’t mean they should have a smaller diet. Like all feathered members of the family, a complete or pelleted diet should be 60-80% of their diet, with the remainder being seed, soaking seed and other treats.

Pelleted Food / Complete Food
Harrison’s Adult Lifetime Super Fine and Harrison’s High Potency Super Fine is a 100% complete diet. It gives your Canary or Finch all the nutrition they need and has no artificial preservatives, fertilisers or pesticides. High potency is for when birds have increased nutritional requirements.

Soaking Seed
Soaking seed are full of the nutrients a bird needs. All you need to do is prepare it is soak it for a minimum of a couple of days, rinsing occasionally, then serve it up to your bird.

Seed
There are many clean, wholesome seed mixtures available.

Johnston and Jeff have created seed mixtures especially for Canaries and Finches. The Favourite Mixed Canary Seed has rapeseed, linseed and biscuit to keep your Canary happy and healthy.

The Hagen Finch VME Seed has been blended together for high nutrition and taste.

Other Treats
Millet Sprays are full of magnesium and phosphorus that Canaries and Finches need for the nervous system, skin and nails.

Please Note
We would always advise buying the smallest bag/pack possible to trial your Parrot with. It can take some time and persistence to introduce a new food. It may be worth having a second bowl of water next to your Canary's food bowl, as many enjoy dunking their food before eating it. Always have fresh water available.

We believe in the quality of our products, but should you received a product that you feel doesn’t suit your Canary or Finch, we offer a 90-day money back guarantee  click here for details
