Jessie our Senegal is approaching 2 and yes we are currently going through the terrible two?s!

She?s my second Senegal, Mitzi my first sadly passed away aged 22 years and 3 months. Despite the constant arguments between Mitzi & my husband, during her last few months he grew so fond of her that he really wanted us to get another Senegal.

Jessie hatched in April 2023 and after months searching and an hour on the phone with the breeder we were her new parents.

Photos and videos from fledgling to 4-month-old seemed to go so quickly. A stop at the Northern Parrots HQ to pick up toys and a travel cage and we met her for the first time.

It was a long drive back to Somerset, with different voices and Jessie was a little stressed, but she found comfort in her snuggle tent.

So why is our little Jessie so amazing? She hasn?t replaced Mitzi, but she has replaced the hole in our lives that she left. But she?s so much more? she?s the naughty I?m going to chew everything and laugh when you try and stop me.

She?s the snuggle in my hoodie because I don?t want to be in my travel rucksack in the car. Her ?see yah? when we go to work and chirps when we leave the room are replaced with flying to the shoulder and affection when we return.

She wants to be near us every moment she can. She loves everyone she meets and brings joy (and poops) to so many of our friends.
