Every year the UK World Parrot Trust team goes to the popular and highly-regarded Think Parrots Show held in London to share information with Parrot owners about enrichment, care and nutrition.
This year, due to the COVID-19 situation, the organisers, Parrots Magazine and show sponsor, Northern Parrots have made the difficult decision to postpone it until next year.
We were of course very disappointed but still wanted to provide help and information to Parrot owners.
Introducing the Parrots@Home event!
With the blessing of the show organisers, the World Parrot Trust is launching a weekend long social media series...
Saturday June 13th
The weekend will be kicking off with a series of videos on enrichment ideas, what you can plant for your Parrots at home and how to encourage natural behaviour.
6.00pm - Painting with Parrots
Join the fun with World Parrot Trust support Lion Country Safari Park, as theri resident Blue and Yellow Macaws, Azul and Riply demonstrate their artistic talents.
Sunday June 14th.
There will be a series of Facebook Live events:
11:30am - Join Louise Caddy - Head of Parrots at Paradise Parrk (home of the World Parrot Trust).
Louise will be showing ways to enrich your Parrot’s life through toy making, creating foraging opportunities, nutrition tips, and more.
2:30pm - Join David Woolcock - WPT Trustee and Paradise Park Curator.
Join David as he host an amazing free flying bird show with the help of some Scarlet Macaws and Amazon Parrots of Paradise Park.
4:30pm - (TBC) Live chick naming (from World Parrot Day competition) and presentation from our field partners Macaw Recovery Network in Costa Rica.
6:00pm - (TBC) Rowan Martin - African Program Director
Join Maria Paulo Santos and Dr. Rowan for a presentation on our UK project the Kiwa Centre (where we have just welcomed a group of Grey Parrots confiscated in Hungary and Bulgaria) and the impact of illegal trade on Grey Parrots in the wild.
We are all excited to bring you this event and look forward to seeing you online during that weekend!
