Hol-ee Roller - Foraging Toy for Parrots

My African Gray managed to break the chain within 15 minutes. And keeps doing it each time I fix it. The weak element is the wheel between a chain and a bell. It is made of soft metal or the bell holder element is too thin so it easily goes off the wheel. This was to replace the old Nutcase 36408 that is great toy and lasted very long.

Well, I read the reviews and there we some good, some bad. I thought id give it a try. My African Grey loved the ball and ringing the bell. So much so that she ripped it to shreds within 2 days! Now just the bell is hanging there and she has lost interest. I generously gave it 2 stars because while it lasted she really enjoyed it. Just a shame is isnt made out of stronger material.

Some treats fall through holes so need massive treats

Our Grey loves these, he has had a couple over the years and loves to pull it around to get at the goodies inside. We usually stuff it with corks, peanuts, fresh peas in a pod, it is very reasonable price for a long lasting toy which gives years of satisfaction.

I had to remove the bell on this as I dont like bells but I fill this ball up with shredded paper and nutriberries to keep him entertained.

This is one of my parrots favorites. He dings the bell, knocks it to side to side. I hide toys in there, food and some paper he cannot get enough. I only bought one but will be ordering more for him to play with outside of the cage. Good size, good value for money and VERY STRONG. My bird has put it to the test and still going strong 4 months later.

My grey loves this. I bought it to replace one he has had for 8 years. He plays with it all the time, takes out his frustration on it when he has been told off and softly shakes it to register happiness.

My CAG ripped this to pieces within 2 days.

product is awful. holes are way to large for any nut to be housed in.put large nuts in they just fall out.rubber is poor quality my grey ripped it apart in seconds.

When I saw this item and the reviews thought it would be ideal for our CAG. Was worried that it was made from rubber but reviews and description state its very durable. I was after a durable foraging toy for our CAG to encourage her and this was ticking the boxes. When it arrived was surprised at how large the holes were - nothing we wanted to store inside would sit there - everything would fall out. So that was the first thing was disappointed in. We shoved it with paper and wrapped up our CAGs treats - at first wasnt interested but then she started to pull out the paper with treats hidden inside. Then the next big disappointment came. She ripped the rubber apart in matter of hours and we were left with just a chain and bell. All in all this is a poor item and would not recommend. Its not durable, its too big to store treats unless you put in something like huge walnuts or brazil nuts none of which our CAG likes. For 5.99 its far too expensive for a chain and bell. Back to the drawing board and back to making our own foraging toys out of paper tubes

I was a little doubtful about ordering this as it looked flimsy but my Grey has been happily using and abusing this foraging toy for a year now . It is so easy to stuff with paper and all sorts of treats and can easily be cleaned afterwards .It is one of his favourite toys and the bell is still tinkling away !! Thoroughly recommended .

As soon as I put this in the cage, my grey came running, and hasnt left it alone since! What a great success.He loves the bell, and he loves to dangle upside down from the ball and swing. The bell isnt too loud either, so we don't get a headache from it constantly ringing. Absolutely great product, would buy another one if it came in more colours, to hang from his play-tree.

A lot of fun for my baby! I thought that she would take her time with it as she is extremely shy with toys, but she started to play the time I was still attaching it to her cage! :)

Our cockatoo pecks at this and sings along with the bell. Happy little toy that she seems to love.

The Hol-ee Roller is my African Grey Parrot's favorite toy.I fill it with everything, fresh fruit, vegetables, treats, pieces of wood, paper strips etc. The holes have a good size, and because of the flexible rubber material, they can expand so it is easy to get the treats in, but more challenging when my parrot tries to get them out.Even when it's empty, my parrot Daia still loves it. The bell inside is out of her reach, so I don't have to worry about her destroying it. She will climb on the ball, ring the bell and flap her wings in joy!And after a long day of playing, the Hol-ee Roller is extremely easy to clean, and ready for another day of foraging and play.

Reading someone else's review on this item persuaded me to buy it and it fulfilled all expectations. When I saw and felt it, I expected Jacko to rip it to shreds - instead, he thoroughly enjoys extracting all the bits of newspaper through the holes until he gets to his treats and the tinkling bell is a bonus. An excellent purchase.

this toy is fantastic for stuffing treats inside and scrunched up paper for your feather friend to enjoy pulling apart and finding their treats. have brought this item on a few occasions now and although get other toys for my african parrot to play with he always enjoys this one.brilliant.

The Hol-ee Roller is very nice but has big holes to hold seeds! It's only for fruit pieces or vegetables!

My African grey used to love this. He would spend hours dangling upside down and rattling the little bell. He wasnt too fussed when i put things in the middle for him to extract.However, he was playing one day when he somehow managed to get his beak jammed in one of the holes. He couldnt get it out and started flapping about. Luckily my wife was at home and had to take it out and slice through the rubber with scissors to free him. He was very distressed and had a cut on his wing from thrashing about. Took him a few days to get over his ordeal.If no one was at home, who knows what might have happened.I wouldnt recommend this product.

my conure baby, has just discovered this, took her a while, but after changing her forraging toys around every few days, this one has now captured her attention, she preffers it on the cage top, or floor than hanging tho x

Having bought one of these originally when my parrot was first hatched nearly 3 years ago, I have only now had to purchase a new one to replace it as it is looking rather tired. Fantastic toy and great value for money.

I bought this for my African Grey who absolutely adores this toy. It is pliable and therefore all sorts of different treats can be inserted and don't fall out. I stuff it with paper, segments of oranges, peanuts and pieces of apple. He delights in shredding the paper and then the treats become quite elusive and keep him amused for hours.It's strong and sturdy and very easily cleaned. When I want him back in his cage, I only have to show it to him and he climbs back in immediately! Any treat can be put inside so it can be varied to make it interesting.

When I bought this, I didn't quite realise how big the holes would be. As a consequence, I can't put many of the foods in that I would have liked to.However, it is well sized for holding sugar cane, and can just about cope with nutriberries, and Coco has decided that he likes swinging on it!

I BOUGHT THIS A FEW MONTHS AGO AND MY TIEL LOVES IT. I HAD SOME COCO FIBRE LEFT OVER FROM THE WILLOW BALL THAT SHE CHEWED TO BITS SO I PUT SOME OF THAT IN THE HOL-EE ROLLER. SHE SPENDS AGES PULLING THE COCO FIBRE THROUGH THE HOLES. I ALSO CUT UP HER MILLET SPRAY AND PUSH THAT THROUGH THE HOLES. IT MAKES HER WORK A BIT HARDER FOR HER MILLET. IT DIDN'T TAKE HER LONG TO COTTON ON TO THE FACT THAT SHE COULD SIT STILL AND SPIN THE BALL ROUND SO SHE COULD REACH THE GOODIES INSIDE. I THORUGHLY RECOMMEND THIS. A GREAT BUY!

My Senegal loved this from the start and can even enjoy it empty as it has a good quality bell hanging from the middle.My parrot will reach for the 'Hol-ee Roller' while sitting on his perch or swing from it while he picks at the treats. I tend to fill the holes up with millet and monkey nuts as the holes are quite large so anything smaller than that will fall out.I was very impressed by this product as it is a good size for hanging in the cage and is very strong.

bought this for my macaw although it states not suitable. if you put something inside it then the b&g macaw would definately chew it to pieces so i just hang it from his cage as it is and he loves it. he hangs from it and it makes him go crazy in a funny way.
