I'd like to tell you about our Jake, a Senegal Parrot! He's our amazing little boy and today (April 11^th) is his 30th Hatchday.

He's been with us since he was weaned and has brought us so much joy. He has a good vocabulary:

Where's Bobby? (My husband)

Jakey want toasties (all food is toast!)

Good morning or good evening (irrespective of the time of day!)

What's up with you?

See you angel.

Hello! (Usually when he's up to no good. He'd be a failed criminal!)

And many others and his own variations!

Nothing really phases him, except the window cleaner's ladder, which is panic central! Ours now messages to say when he's here so we can move rooms to avoid spotting the ladder!

Two house moves ago he got scared and it never left him. Sad but we cope.He hardly flies now, but walks and walks around following me. If he spots 'Bobby' then he will try to chase him away to protect me! ??

I once found Bob sat on the kitchen unit cornered by this little bird, waiting for me to rescue him!He's had health issues in the past and happily takes his daily milk thistle in an apple juice bribe.

Who knows when he will leave us? We treasure him and we always take him on holidays with us. I couldn't bear to leave him and would worry about this little feather bundle. As I said 11th April is his Hatchday and here he is opening his cards and presents!
