Mike Simmons attended the National Pet Show in Birmingham in November 2018. Here is his review of the event.
This year we once again attended the National Pet Show and had a great time presenting some free flight displays as well as talks and presentations.
In the middle of the busy schedule myself and Barrett Watson had a stand with a flight cage showcasing a mix of beautiful Macaws. It was a chance to share information with thousands of people on the highlights of owning such birds but also to highlight the specialty of the birds as companions in the home.
Most people were shocked to hear the bird’s loud voices and staggered at the lifespan of large Parrots.
As well as putting out information on pet care, the stand also focused on wild Parrots and how support for conversation projects was much needed to help ensure Parrots in the wild have a more certain future!
We teamed up with the World Parrot Trust and gave out leaflets and education packs. There were lots of interested children that were concerned for the bright coloured birds’ future, this was a great opportunity to get the younger generation involved.
A bonus to our attendance was we managed to raise just over three hundred and fifty pounds for the World Parrot Trust also.
The show is already being planned for next year and we have all been invited back already, so maybe we will see you there next year"!
Thank you to Mike Simmons for his review.
