Are you hoping to add to your flock?
These birds from Birdline UK Parrot Rescue are looking for their forever home.
Jethro is a Blue-fronted Amazon. He is a large Amazon with a large personality to match. He has been looking for his new home for over a year.
I am looking for my lady love, and one thing is for sure, once I’ve found you, you will have my undying love and devotion and I will be your special bird.
I’m not very keen on men, and will fly to attack them, but if you just put me in my cage when a man comes in the room I will be fine.
I’m frightened of them you see. I don’t mind my safe house dad, but he has long hair so I think he’s a girl.
I have the most gorgeous brown eyes and beautiful feathers, and you will be smitten with me. I am such an obedient chap, and once you have established my routine I will step up and go in my cage before you even ask, although sometimes a pistachio or two may be required.
I love burying my beak in a bowl of sweet corn and oranges, and then spend the day with it all over my face. I really enjoy playing with toys and having long, warm spray showers. I close my eyes and let you give me a good old soaking.
I like to chat to you, and will greet you every morning and chat along. Most of all, I like to dance with you, and will even do pirouettes on my perch. I’m not a noisy bird, although if you encourage me I will have a good old screeching session with you, accompanied with wolf whistles.
I’ve been taught to be quiet in the past, so I do really enjoy letting off scream with my safe house flock. I’m allowed out all day here, because I’m no trouble at all.
So if you think you are looking for a sweet, loyal companion in your life, please apply for me, I’m feeling very sorry for myself without a special lady in my life.
Jethro comes with a cage and is available from Kent.
Billy and Amy
Billy and Amy are Congo African Greys.
We must stay together as we are a bonded pair who spend time feeding each other and snuggling up at night.
I’m Billy and am a timid little fella who likes you to ignore me until I want affection. I’ve been with my safehouse for a while and have got use to her, so I like to dance with her.
I like to bounce and flap my wings to most music and do love female vocalists. My favourite food is mash potato but I am only allowed it on occasions as my safehouse
Mum says it’s not good for me. I don’t like to leave my cage often, but have when I’ve been bribed with a walnut. I love to talk but will only do it if you’re out of the room. I’m a shy guy to begin with but will come out of my shell in time. I will hand you over to Amy as she is more than capable of telling you about herself!
I’m Amy and a very confident girl. I only have one eye but that does not stop me from being adventurous. I love time out of my cage and think it funny to play games when it’s time to go back in.
I don’t like to be touched but I will approach you to investigate you. I love to shred cardboard and to tip my food out of the bowl to forage it. I don’t talk but I do some brilliant sound effects. I too love music (and dancing with my best friend Billy).
We would love a family home where me and Billy can get to know everyone and hopefully you will have the patience, time and love to let our confidence grow.
Billy and Amy don’t come with a cage and are available from Devon.
Yorka is a Blue and Gold Macaw.
Yorka comes with a cage and is available from Somerset.
I love coming out of my cage, playing and looking around – oh and getting into mischief. I do prefer men but will tolerate women especially when there are no men around.
I eat a seed diet with fruit and veg, and I do like nuts but in moderation. I think I would fit well into a family and I have been into the local school to meet the children and I did enjoy talking away to them.
When I’m playing I can nip if I get over excited so they couldn’t touch me, but I seemed to enjoy their company.
I am also fine with cats and dogs as long as they keep their distance. I do talk and I come with my own large cage so do you have room in your home and heart for me?
Darcy the Ducorps Cockatoo is available for sponsorship.
She loves to dance, so was named after the Strictly judge Darcey Bussell. She looks like a ballerina, as her feathers look like a tutu.
Darcy is a very difficult bird and needs close monitoring and supervision. She had suffered severe zinc poisoning when she came to us and had to be hospitalised a number of times.
She is severely plucked across her back and front, and does not have enough flight feathers to fly, which affects her confidence. She has been known to self mutilate, and has opened gaping wounds under her wings and picked holes in her legs. She can be pretty moody and will fly at people and bite for no discernible reason, then the next day she will be all kisses and cuddles.
Darcy eats Harrison's and NutriBerries pellets.
She is well settled in a safehouse known to us for its experience with difficult Cockatoos. Darcy needs ongoing treatment, including medication, bi-annual vet visits and blood checks. She has not mutilated or pulled blood feathers since 2017 so she is doing well.
We still hope to find a home for Darcy, but it needs to be one who has a lot of bird experience, but no other birds. They would need to be at home all day in case she bleeds out. Plus they will need to commit to her mood swings, as she can jump onto your shoulder and give you a good old CHOMP if you’ve offended her in some way.
Do contact us if you think you might be her forever home.
If you would like to sponsor Darcy, she would love to stay in touch on her secret page which she will share with you. Her birthday with us is 26/06/2014 should you wish to send her a gift. She particularly likes shredding things!
