Small Macaw Toy Guide

Published on Friday, 22nd March 2019
If you can’t decide which toy your Small Macaw would like the best, we’ve put together this handy guide to help you choose the best one for your feathered friend.

Foraging Toys
In the wild your Macaw would naturally spend many hours searching for food. Using chewable and reusable foraging toys you can easily help replicate this natural behaviour.

See if your Small Macaw can move their treats through the chambers of the popular Tug N Slide or move the Foraging Bucket around to retrieve their goodies.

The Birdie Bread has
honeycomb cardboard layers pieces with lots of places to hide treats inside.

Wood and Rope Toys
Are built for big chewers, with lots of pieces of wood to munch on, as well as rope for preening with.

The Stacks and Spools has coloured wood blocks and beads and the Cocotte has even bigger wood blocks for beaks to get to grips with.

Palm Toys
Like the Large Spiked Pinata, come with lots of natural fibres too. Once your Macaw chews through the palm leaf outer layer they get to
even more fun to chew fibres inside.

The Zigzag Rainbow Shredder Roll has 9 metres of woven palm leaf for your Parrot to shred and unravel.

Coconut and Cactus Toys
Have masses of natural fibres for your Small Macaw to pick, preen and unravel.

The Coco Full Moon, Treasure Chest, Eclipse and De Nut are exposed pieces of coconut, that you can easily hide treats inside too.

Bird Kabobs are made from agave or cactus wood, irresistible to Parrots.

Foot Toys
Are small and lightweight, perfect for picking up and throwing around, keeping feet well exercised in the process.

The Parrot Pencil Foot Toy is made from 100% wood.

Birdie Bangles are made from layers of compressed cardboard for your Macaw to shred and chew on.

Cardboard and Paper Toys

These are fun for your Small Macaw to shred, tear apart and chew, plus they love the sound they make as they do.

The Stacks of Shredding Medium and Shredding Coronet have layers of cardboard slices alongside colourful wood slats. The Shred It has a long length of paper to unravel.

Acrylic and Metal Toys
Your Macaw won’t be able to shred these super tough toys. The Super Binkies Hanging and Nuts, Bolts and Binkies Large both have dummy shaped pieces your Parrot can work at removing.

Swings and Climbing Toys
Let your Macaw enjoy exercise through play.

The Jungle Wood and Rope Ladder has over 30 pieces of soft wood for your Macaw to shred, chew on and walk across, for healthy beak and feet.

The Double Cotton Swinger has two loops of cotton to keep your Small Macaw active.

Bells and Musical Toys
Parrots love these toys, as they’re just as noisy as they are.

The Double Ringer Bell chimes merrily away for many happy hours of playtime.

The Charming Jingle Ball has 5 bells that ring out happily as your Macaw plays.

Activity and Trick Toys
Cement the bond between you and your Small Macaw with activity and trick toys.

Spend quality time together teaching your Parrot to identify colours and numbers with the Teacher Toy, simple words and phrases with Mimic Me and learn a new sport like Roller Skating or Basketball, all taught by you of course.

Toy Packs

You can buy foraging, chewing and even activity and trick toys all together. It’s a great way to try out your small Macaw with a variety of toys, and at a discounted price.

Please Note
You’ll know your Parrot best, please choose toys that you feel are suitable for your Macaw’s level of destruction. As with anything new it can take some time for your Small Macaw to accept a new toy. Introduce new toys slowly. Place it some distance away from your Parrot at first, then bring it closer to them as they become more confident.

We believe in the quality of our products, but should you received a product that you feel doesn’t suit your Small Macaw, we offer a 90-day money back guarantee  click here for details

Always supervise your Macaw during playtime. Regularly maintain toys, especially ropes or fibres. Remove if you feel it poses a hazard to your bird.
