Thinking outside the cage - the importance of flight.

Learning to fly well is the most complicated and important task a Parrot can learn. Your companion will be healthier, more active, fitter and more co-ordinated. Flying helps with everything from self-confidence and self-esteem to sociability and intelligence.

The Aviator Harness is

* The Only Harness designed to allow flight - the self adjusting lead slides from the chest to the back as the bird climbs and turns. Lead is elasticated to prevent injury if the bird flies to the end of the lead.

* The Only Escape Proof Harness - one piece construction, no buckles or clips for the bird to undo or break, wrist loop to prevent dropping the lead

* The Only Easy Fitting Harness - just slide the harness over the bird's head, lift each wing through the loop and tighten the belt.

* The Only Harness that comes with a FREE 40 minute instructional DVD telling you
How to easily fit and safely use the Aviator
How to train your bird to love the Aviator
How to teach old birds new tricks
The advantages of the optional Aviator Flight Line.
What positive personality changes to expect

Excellent Customer Service - Harness Training Takes Time

My Parrots: Caique

I bought this for my middle-aged caique. Its an ongoing project to get him to wear it, but progress is definitely being made! I had some concern re the sizing as the head piece is small and my birds neck is like a rugby players. However, both Northern Parrots and the manufacturer were very rapid in their response to my e-mailed concerns and offered help and advice - or replacement - if I preferred. But we are sticking with it!

An Excellent Product If You Take The Time To Train

I am really impressed by how this product is made. It is extremely well constructed and just the right size for my little Quaker. One thing I would say, though, is that the video that comes with it, although extremely informative, does not give a lot of detail about how to train smaller birds. I made the mistake of using the same technique shown on the video and had to hugely backtrack because my bird just was not ready for it. This product can be absolutely fantastic and give a bird lots of freedom BUT it is a really tough behaviour for a bird to learn and, as I have discovered, really important not to rush. Take the time to read as many online articles and watch as many GOOD videos as you can. The key for me is NEVER TO FORCE the bird, and if it takes a year to train the behaviour, then it takes a year. But I think a lot of birds are put off by the over-excitement of their owners and this prevents them from having the experiences they could have outside. It is definitely worth a buy, but only if both owner and bird take their time!

Very fiddly to put on a tiny baby quaker but we are managing! Found the hardest thing to be removing the head loop when taking it off because you have to go against the direction of feather growth - lifting it up over the head from under the chin seems to be the least stressful method.
