Sanded perches are a safe way to help your Parrot keep their beak, nails and feet in good condition. The rough non-toxic sand coating acts like tree bark would in the wild, wearing down nails and acting as a beak rub. When used near your shower the sand coating helps to ensure your Parrot maintains a positive grip whilst enjoying the warm mist.

With your Parrot's Medium Sanded Shower Perch you can be safe in the knowledge that your Parrot's feet are getting the same tender love and care outside of their cage as well as in.

Use these versatile Sanded Shower Perches for Parrots - Medium away from the shower too, fit them around your home providing your Parrot with safe and secure places to perch; the perfect solution if space is at a premium and having a number of different stands is not an option.

Folds away when not in use.

Does what it says on the tin

Excellent product chose the 3-5 day delivery and it arrived the next morning so well done there. My Patagonian conure took to it straight away. Very sturdy once built which was a cinch. Not sure if the little stopper thingy is a new addition but it adds to the overall rigidity. Very good indeed if your fid likes a shower then this is a must have. Well done northern parrots I shall be returning for more items soon :-)

Better than it looked in the packaging

The package looked as though it had been opened before or had been left hanging around in a shop for ages. The plastic element of the perch had old sellotape stuck to it and the staples of the packaging had been re-applied three times. Having said all that, once cleaned up and assembled, the product is sound and well liked by our parrot. The glittery sandy perch fulfills all the stated claims on the package - so overall - a good product.

Overall Good, Some Unexpected Features

This item is probably one of the most solidly-constructed shower perches I've seen. The PVC construction makes it strong but lightweight, and the fittings are attached with no wobble or weaknesses. This would be expected of any handmade perch, but this one really shines in that no glue or adhesive is exposed, even in the slightest, so it's obvious that the manufacturer took care in building this item. Assembly was a cinch, thanks to some excellent threaded connectors, made of metal like bolts; putting the pieces together was as easy as closing a jam jar. Again, the creator goes a step forward, this time integrating some pressure locks: by screwing the pieces together tightly enough, the lock engages and prevents the pieces from un-screwing naturally. This is an excellent step above many snap-on connectors, which are often wobbly and fragile.I'm not sure why some people are complaining of small or weak suction cups. The piece I've received had three very heavy-duty suction cups, which are tougher and more secure than any others I've seen. Usually I can pop off regular suction cups with enough force, or at least slide them around the tile - particularly if the tile is wet. Not so with these monsters. The material that makes up these cups is rather inflexible, and the shape adds to their rigidity. This leads to some suction power that I can only remove by pulling on the given escape tab. Perhaps an industrious grey or cockatoo could pop these off the wall, but my conure wouldn't have a chance. So, in terms of the suction cups, either the previous comments are incorrect or the manufacturer has adjusted the product design to eliminate a fault - regardless, at least for the medium size, wall attachment is no problem. That said, there are some features that I wish were changed. The fact that this product is imported from the US means that the packaging upon receipt was a bit damaged. After calling NP about the issue, I found that all of their stock for this item had the same issue. Luckily, the damage seemed to be superficial, and limited to packaging only. The other issue I have with the product is the fact that the sand-covered perch is sparkly. It doesn't seem to be from artificial craft sparkles - if it were, then I would definitely have returned it. Perhaps it's from bits of mica inherent in the sand, given how brilliant but tiny each grain is. This is only an issue because sparkles really aren't something one would find in many bird toys: my conure had never seen sparkles, and was pretty terrified of the perch when he first saw it. He's better around it now, but he still won't stand on it if he has a choice. The hope is that he will change his mind as he becomes used to it, but it's a slow process. If the product could be changed, then I would prefer a sand perch with a lower quantity of mica to better fit in with other bird toys.

Good but could be better

My little bird took to this perch straight away and is happy to spend lots of time sitting on it whilst i relax in a long bath. The sandy texture is great for his beak and feet and he's very attracted to it because of the sparkly quality. However, there's a major flaw in the perch, because the suckers are not protected and Hardy made a beeline straight for them - and has already bitten bits of. Placing the perch the other way up to the pictures makes two of the suckers more inaccessible, but a diy solution to guard the suckers will have to be found. If your position this somewhere over your bath, you will also want to make sure your bird goes to the toilet first!
