Creative foraging is providing the opportunity to search for and acquire food. A pet bird's cage is their environment and territory. A bird benefits from observation when you introduce "something new" into their environment and being naturally inquisitive they are inclined to explore this to discover that it contains food. The hunt is on and so is the beginning of learning to forage.

Enrichment For Your Parrot

Unlike their wild ancestors our pet Parrots have no need to spend many hours every day foraging for food and avoiding predators.

So we need to keep them occupied before boredom and frustration lead to problems such as excessive screaming and feather plucking.

The term for improving your bird's life in this manner is "enrichment" and Parrot behaviourist Liz Wilson has lots of ideas how to go about it.
