Say hello to Tashi the Green-cheeked Conure.

About Tashi

My name’s Tashi (which means ‘auspicious’ in Tibetan). I’m a yellow-sided Green-cheeked Conure and I’ll be five on 23 July. Mom says I was a pretty ugly looking chick, but I think I was showing all the signs of being the good looking dude I am today - what do you think?

                                                                                                                                                                                            I love hanging out in the garden, especially when I get to play in the rowan tree. I take a bath every couple of days and boy, do I make a mess! My favourite foods tend to be anything one of the big guys is eating; potato, tomato and sweet corn are top of my list, but I’ll give anything a try.

Biscuit

I have to put on my most pleading face and bounce up and down to get a bit of digestive biscuit, but it always works.

I have a pretty good life. Cage door opens around 10.00 am and I’m out having fun until 5.00 pm. I have my own window play area, where I watch garden birds foraging for food which doesn’t look that appetising! My pet hates are refuse carts, police sirens and red bags.

My favourite toys are the 'triple shape stacker’ and the ‘puzzle board’. I’m rewarded with hemp seeds during training sessions and I’ve learned to fill and empty my shopping trolley, to take shapes to mom, to turn round (in either direction) and I know my left foot from my right!

Last spring my friend Norbu died. He was a fine looking Turquoise Conure and we did everything together. I’ll even admit he was better at tricks than me. I’ve missed having a friend to play with, even though I get loads of attention and guess what, mom has just found a baby Pineapple Conure and we’ll be picking him or her up late August.
