Fantastic Product For A Picky Eater

My Parrots: African Grey
Location: Taunton, United Kingdom
I am the second owner of an African Grey Parrot who was not fed on a particularly healthy diet. Very selective eater and will not eat fruit. After trying another brand of dry pellets recommended by my avian vet - not successful with my fussy feathered pal - I thought I would try these Lafeber NutriBerries as they contained all the necessary nutrition. To my surprise and delight they were a hit and my parrot now goes straight into his cage to eat when he sees me put them in his bowl. He has also tried the veggie ones and enjoys these too. Thanks to Mr Lafeber he will now eat a little fresh veg. Its a delight to see him so excited when his food arrives.

My parrot is a fussy eater and has not taken to pellets. I have finally found something he loves so I am happy. I am giving it 4 stars not 5 as it is a bit pricey and there is a lot of waste. I will however continue to buy this as it is the only complete food he eats.

It took me ten years to find a food my Meyers parrot actually seemed to enjoy but he loves these! He Crunches them all up leaving a glorious mess on his cage floor. My ancient cockatiel turned his beak up at the food the first time he was offered it but I gave it to him again last week and he ate the lot. Top marks all round !two happy birds

Classic Nutriberries
14th November 2015

My Parrots: Cockatiel
I use Classic Nutriberries as the main part of the diet for my cockatiels. They thrive on them and have far better nutritional value than mixed seeds. I used to place an order for a 20 lb 9kg box from Lafeber in the USA, but this time, they advised me this quantity is now available from Northern Parrots. When I went to the website, one box was remaining so I ordered it. However a few hours later I received a call from a chap called Daniel in Northern Parrots customer service telling me someone had just pipped me to the post with this last box and by a quirk of online ordering I had missed out. He assured me more was on order, and I would be sent another box in about 3 weeks time. I wasnt worried as I had about 6 weeks worth in stock. However in the meantime, this Daniel chap pulled a few strings and I got an email saying the Nutriberries would arrive a full week earlier than expected which they did. So, a star to this bloke Daniel and to Northern Parrots in general for good customer service. Also, a strong recommendation for Nutriberries. My birds do very well on them

My parrots love these!Smell very nice and all mine took to them right away.Great to put in foraging toys, especially the buffet ball kabobs.Only problems are that they can be very crumbly and do tend to stick together in the tub.

Lafeber's Nutri-Berries Parrot Food

We've been feeding these to our African Grey for years, bringing them, or having friends bring them, from the USA. They're about twice as expensive in the UK but it's nice to know that we can get them here. Because of the price we don't feed our parrot exclusively on Nutri-Berries. On the other hand, he picks and chooses from other parrot food mixes, rejecting most of the stuff (he likes sunflower seeds and he also shares our Weetabix Minis). The berries do crumble a bit, and to avoid wastage we have to pick up the berries and bits that he drops to the bottom of the cage.

Great food, and interesting too!

I first purchased Nutri-Berries as a more seedlike alternative to pellets, as I was having a hard time switching my stubborn cockatiel over. My first bag was the small bag, and it was ok. Good and resealable. Nowadays, I order the larger container, as it's more cost effective. I reuse the containers for pellets and nuts.I used to have to crunch the clusters down a little, so that it looked more like seed. My cockatiels were wary at first, but now my eldest likes his berries in their cluster form, while my littlest likes hers to be crushed a little. The clusters comprise hulled seed with some pellets, coated in lots of good vitamins and minerals, formed into a cluster with the occassional peanut and other small nut pieces thrown in. As well as being a nutritional food, it also makes my birds forage for their food.It has turned into their main food, supplemented by Harrisons and ZuPreem fruity pellets. For two cockaiels, I use around 20 pellets every day, which isn't really so bad cost wise, as the large bag can seem quite expensive. In short, my birds love these clusters, and they are very healthy alternative to a 100% pellet diet, which I'm shying away from. They provide nutrition and perhaps just as importantly, fun for my birds while eating.

Jake adores these little berries of food. He starts dancing as soon as he sees me opening the tub! Only complaint is they have been compacted once again in delivery and the balls become a large mass. I can pick many of the berries apart, but quite a few crumble, which defeats the point of him picking them up to enjoy. The other treat packets turn up in much better condition, the tub seems to spoil the contents.

So many places I have heard people praise this product highly so I had to try it. My Rosella loves pellets so it was just to be a treat for her while my Love Bird is a very picky eater and would benefit from them as more than a snack. But none of them had any interest in them. They did have a taste though. So I did as it said in the folder (I think it was) I crumbled a few into their seeds. Gipsy my Rosella stopped eating seeds and stuck to pellets. But I think Denger has had a little. My birds likes or dislikes doesn't influence my ratings as I rate after how I think the products are. Just because a parrot doesn't like something doesn't make it a bad product in my eyes:) They do look delicious and fresh!

Absolutely brilliant, not only do they smell good but my birds love them to pieces (literally!)They are perfect for smaller birds to hold and are a great tasty treat that takes them a little while to get threw. My birds like to forage for them inside toys and placed under them, they just can't get enough. They are also good if you pop into town or the shower and you need them to keep themselves active and happy for a while.Very handy!

My parrot and I moved to Wales from America a few years ago, and this was all he would eat in America! Until 24Parrot started to carry this product, we were actually having it shipped to us from America at a significant expense!THAT'S how much my parrot loves this food! It was the ONLY seed mix he'd eat!It was also highly recommended by my vet as being more complete than average seed mixes, and the shape is very appealing for parrots, as they enjoy holding things in their feet when they eat.The seed balls also have a lovely smell which is very enticing to him, and he just can't get enough! They stay very fresh in the resealable container and are a lot less messy than loose seed mixes. Thanks Lafeber!

Lafeber - my birds' favourite
1st February 2010
Rank : Top 250 Reviewer

Location: Nottingham
Lafeber Nutriberries (and Avicakes) are my birds' (cockatiels and Galah) absolute favourites, superb for hiding in foraging toys.I would especially recommend Nutriberries to anyone with a persistently fussy seed-junkie, as they help make a transition away from a wholly seed-based diet far easier and stress-free - for all concerned. There's very little wastage with Nutriberries; however, Avicakes are, in my own & my 'tiels' opinions, a better option for smaller birds - however, this is probably because the cockatiel-specific Nutriberry blends are not currently available in the UK.
