Because birds can be intolerant of artificial pesticides, fertilisers and preservatives, Harrison's Bird Foods have developed the first and only 100% Organic bird food.

The ingredients are premium whole grains and are approved for human consumption.

High Potency should be used when your bird has increased nutritional requirements such as during moulting, breeding, rearing, weaning and ill health.

We would recommend a veterinary health check prior to changing your bird's diet.

My Parrots: Cockatiel
Location: Bournemouth, United Kingdom
I was told by my Vet who specialises in Birds to try this on my cockatiels as one of them was Vitamin A deficient she said to put some in with their regular food and slowly reduce their regular food over time. Coctatiels are fussy eaters and she warned me it could take up to a year until they would just accept this product, thankfully we are 6 months in and they now eat this happily without their other food but it did take six months. I went to the vets the other day and her beak is growing much stronger, and she is showing signs that she is getting all the nutrients she needs so I say this is an excellent product. Still give them vegetables on and off as well though.

Excellent nutritions as part of a balanced diet

My Maroon Bellied Conure has Harrison's High Potency Fine as part of his balanced diet. He has access to these pellets all day and night but he is also provided with lots of fresh vegetables and fruit, Nutriberries for certain vitamins and minerals not found in most pellets, treats and a certain amount of healthy table food. And obviously he has access to fresh clean water 24/7.I've tried a number of pellets and these are the only ones he really enjoys and that don't contain ingredients that worry me. They look bland but it only took me a couple of days to get him eating them happily - after he came to me as a bit of a seed junky.

Harrison's products are fantastic. All of my birds took to it and I have fed it since. The birds who struggle to eat it get it on their chop ground up and sprinkled all over. My birds have been in brilliant condition since I started using it and their feathers look fabulous! Another brilliant factor is that everything is organic, nothing nasty in there that could be potentially harmful

I have a conure who has been eating seeds whole his life. I tried to convert him but it wasn“t successful until now. This is the first pellet he doesn“t spit out. First i tried with the coarse, but this works better. Sometimes i mix it with fruit juice, that he likes a lot.Healthy ingredients it absolutely a plus.

This food met with some of my wish list requirements when considering feed for my parrot....organic premium ingrediants etc.I did however try my amazon on this for 21 days(obviously mixing this with his regular food gradually until the ratio became greater) He did not accept the food atall,at first he attempted to peel it,then just crunched it up and spat it out all over the floor, then this behaviour changed to angry emptying of the food bowl.....then constant begging....then robbery(no fruit bowls were safe, dogs mugged for their biscuits etc).I emailed the manufacturer and they advised moistening it,and then persisting....which i did for a further 3 days.I would not recommend this product as quite expensive, manufacturer tells me smaller trial bags are available but when i was looking into use of this product could not find said small bags.If you do decide to try please make sure you try and obtain one of these.

Improved my birds health and wellbeing

It's so hard to find a good pellet diet. There are so many out there! I needed something for all of my small birds and I came across this. It is a must have! I feed the recommended amount each day for my birds with fresh fruit and veggies along side. I have noticed in all of my birds that it has made a HUGE improvement. One of my cockatiels had come from a bad background and he was severely plucked. I have noticed that switching his diet from all seeds to Harrisons High Potency Fine that he has actually stopped his plucking. His feathers cannot grow back but at least he doesn't bother any more! All of my brids seem a lot more alert and happy. I would recommend Harrisons foods to everybody. They also come in a variety of sizes for all species. At first your bird may object to eating them, being pretty dull in colour, but after a while they will get the hang of it. Mine gobble them down now!

Pellets for my Budgies

I have been getting Harrisons for my budgies for quite a while now and it never took them long to convert, infact it was easy considering one of them is real fussy..I think the Non fussy one helped in that respect. They love these pellets and even though my budgies have always been healthy, they seem to have more vitality and are very happy. I will always keep on buying this...I enjoy buying from Northern Parrots, as they have a lot of other items on here to tempt us with, which is good because you can fill your baskets with lots of things and pay a decent price for postage...or even free if you purchase enough. Harrisons has a good reputation for Organic Bird food and I can see why.

Been buying this a few months after my cockatiel was poorly with kidney infection. This was recommended by the vet. So glad I took his advise. I now have a very healthy lutino whose plumage and overall general wellbeing is 100%. At first he wasn't too happy ,but with the vets advise of how to wean him onto it he loves it. Can't recommend this product enough.

I was recommended this by my vet after Dennis recovered from his illness. The vet said it would take a while to wean him off seed but Den loved it from day one and is now not interested in seed based foods. I'm really pleased with how happy and healthy he is too and would recommend this product to any bird lover.

My cockatiel loves it!

I usually buy two packs at a time to save postage. Unfortunately it is for one cockatiel and I do not use it up quickly and on this occasion I found the best before dates were not very long. There was also a lot of crushed pellet dust in the bottom of the packet. However I will still buy it as my cockatiel loves it

Harrisons High Potency Fine

Harrisons bird food is definitely one of the healthiest bird foods around but what has always been difficult is getting birds to like it and in all honestly I'd rather give my bird a natural seed diet but heigh-ho I'm not gonna be changing anything with my Hahns since he was weaned on it.The way I got Jambo to like it was to start using it like it was a treat, putting it in foraging toys, and giving him it during training so it appealed to him more in his little head. Eventually he started eating it but I have to say it delayed the average weaning time.High Potency has been his staple diet since we got him (3 years) and it was recommended by our Avian vet to keep purchasing the high potency. I can't say that he really enjoys the food, he'd probably rather go chew on some wood but he's eating it so no problems there.

Tasty and Healthy

My avain vet recommends this product and stocks it at their practice. I weaned my conure onto Harrisons pellets by initally mixing them with her egg food, she took to them straight away and gets excited every time she sees the bag. She's just been through her first moult and the quality of her feathers is excellent with a lovely sheen. That said i feel that it would be unnatural to feed her a purely processed food diet and so i suppliment Rio's diet with a good quality seed / dried veg mix from Northern Parrots and plenty of fresh fruit. She has a bias for the pellets over the seed mix which is good.Whilst the bags may seem expensive initally they do last a long time and works out at about £1 a week for a conure sized bird.

Best diet for parrots

Advised by an avian vet because contains all nutrients a parrot needs, seed diets are not good for parrots esp sunflower seeds as they are high in fat, very addictive and contain no nutritional value.Large bag saves you money

Progress at last.

No doubt about the quality of the product, but not so easy to persuade my 40 year old African Grey. This is the third attempt. He will only tackle the fine version, mixed with puree made from tinned peaches in juice (it must be peaches!). Now he is on 50-50 Harrisons/sunflower, so we are getting there slowly. If I ever get him onto the Harrisons coarse dry, I plan to mix the left-over crumbs with fruit puree to make a "pudding".

I have very fussy eating lovebirds, they pick and choose what they will eat, which only seems to be seed. I have only had them a few weeks (I am, as far as I know, the 3rd owner). My female is unwell and the vet recommended this feed and so far so good, they are eating it.

Perseverance is key
7th July 2009
Rank : Top 250 Reviewer
As with all things 'bird', it's worth persevering with any new diet, and not introducing it 'cold' and expecting success. Mixing it gradually with existing food until the bird accepts it usually works. I had no difficulty getting my 4 cockatiels to eat Harrisons normal or high potency varieties - they all took to it straight away, even without me having to mix it with their previous diet. There's no waste, it doesn't go mouldy if left uneaten on a specific day, and I switched them to Harrison's on the advice of our avian vet, so it's professionally recommended too. My blue and gold macaw is also now on Harrison's, which she absolutely loves, but in her case it took many months of perseverence, including crushing up the pellets with warm water (parrot porridge!) before she accepted it. Birds do differ, and some may never like a specific food, but this is an excellent variety with all the nutrients needed and no toxins, so it's definitely worth a go.

Meh...

Despite being the best pellet based diet out there, I probably still won't buy it again. They are boring, believe me, I've tried them, and my cockatiel wanted absolutely nothing to do with them, no matter how long I persevered, and no matter how many ways I served it. I am much happier now that he is on an xtravital seed based diet, supplemented with plenty of fresh fruit and veg, as it is much more varied and interesting than any pellet, and in my opinion, more healthy. Harrisons is also very overpriced. The plus side is that it is made from organic produce, which is a step in the right direction. I would only feed these (or any other) pellets if you really have to.
